We value our attendees for their support, interaction, and feedback. Which is why we wanted to honor the first person to register for Content Marketing Conference, Mallory Maggiacomo of Marist College!
Read below to learn more about Mallory, what she’s looking forward to at CMC and more:
Tell us about you, where you work, and your content marketing history!
I work at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY. I work in the Graduate Admission office and I am responsible for recruiting for our graduate degrees located in New York, Italy and online.
I have a Bachelors in Psychology and a Masters in Public Administration, both from Marist.
What prompted you to register for CMC?
I don’t have a background in content marketing but my job has moved towards this area which is why I started looking for marketing conferences. I found an article online which named the top marketing conferences in the country and this conference seemed like it would be a great fit for me.
How did you convince your boss?
In the past few years we have hired a customer relationship management company and my job has developed into writing content and starting to learn more about managing this system. My boss thought this would be a great fit as well since eventually I would like to be fully responsible for our CRM.
What speaker and session(s) are you most looking forward to? ]
I am mostly looking forward to the “Writing Without the Bullshit” workshop with Josh Bernoff and the “12 Principles for Really Great Content” session.
What is your major 2017 marketing goal(s)?
One of my biggest goals for 2017 is to learn how to become a better writer.
What is one thing you’d like to know about Boston before heading here in April (food, drink, must-sees?)
I am looking forward to all the history Boston has to offer so I’m looking forward to learning more about different tours I can do while I’m there.
What has been your favorite conference to date and why?
Previously I’ve been to all graduate admission conferences so my favorite conference so far has been the STAMATS conferences. I feel like their conferences are very well organized and have a lot of great content relevant to my job.
What is the best conference swag you received?
Nothing that I remember!
If you could give one piece of advice to a speaker, a sponsor, and a conference host, what was they be?
Network! Conferences are what you make of them. If you engage with others and take the time to get to know other people in the field it will make the conference that much better. And you will learn so much more!
What’s your top conference networking tip?
Engage with other people! Take the time out to learn from others. Attend as many events as you can and make new contacts!
Anything else?
I’m really looking forward to this conference. I am new to this and definitely have a lot to learn but I think this conference is a great place to start.
Thank you Mallory, we look forward to meeting you in April at Content Marketing Conference 2017! Everyone else, keep your eyes out for more attendee spotlights (register and it could be you!)
