There are only four days until CMC and guess what!? OUR SESSIONS ARE SOLD OUT!

Not to worry, there’s still a little space in our content strategy, SEO, CRO, content marketing, comedy marketing, and writing workshops!

Let’s meet Jesse of The American Chemical Society and see what he’s looking forward to at #CMC17!

Tell us about you, where you work, and your content marketing history!

I run ACS Axial, a blog from the American Chemical Society.

It helps bring to together resources from across the society for chemistry professionals of all kinds.

Before that I worked at Microsoft, running a B2B-focused blog about how technology is transforming the way we work.

My professional superpower is helping organizations think of new ways to tell complex stories.

What prompted you to register for CMC?

It’s happening on a convenient week for my schedule.

How did you convince your boss?

I just asked. No convincing required.

What speaker and session(s) are you most looking forward to?

I’m more interested in hearing about what my peers are working on. I always learn more from other attendees than I do at the keynote for any conference.

What is your major 2017 marketing goal(s)?

More blog traffic. Always more traffic. Never enough traffic.

What is one thing you’d like to know about Boston before heading here in April (food, drink, must-sees)

I’ve given up trying to cram site-seeing into professional conferences. It’s a fool’s errand.

At the end of the day, I just want to go back to my hotel room and relax.

What has been your favorite conference to date and why?

BlogWorld 2010 — the era when corporate social media marketing was still relatively new was very exciting.

No one had any idea what they were doing and it led to some really interesting experiments.

I wish conferences studied failure more. Success is a poor teacher.

What is the best conference swag you received?

I hate swag. No one needs another coaster/key chain/pen. They’re tacky and they’re bad for the planet.

If you could give one piece of advice to a speaker, a sponsor, and a conference host, what was they be?

When you’re taking questions from the audience, be absolutely ruthless about cutting people off if they try to turn their question into an extended plug for their business. You’ll be doing everyone a favor, including the question-asker.

What’s your top conference networking tip?

Ask more questions and make fewer statements.

You’ll learn more and you’ll make more friends if you’re willing to let the other person do most of the talking.

We look forward to meeting Jesse, and all of our attendees next week!

We look forward to seeing you at either the content strategy, SEO, CRO, content marketing, comedy marketing, or writing workshops at Content Marketing Conference 2017!
