As a journalist, Debra’s work has inspired new laws, reforms and audits. She has won over 40 journalism awards during her time as a reporter. That includes 17 first-place investigative and reporting awards. She delivered in-depth exposes on the substandard care for the mentally ill and medically frail children and exposed the abuse of foster care children and the disabled as the Cincinnati Enquirer’s Statehouse Bureau Chief.
Before getting Mindset Digital off the ground, she served as the director of Ohio State’s Kiplinger Program. There, she and her partner launched the first journalist’s social media fellowship- showcasing top-notch reporters from 60 Minutes, CNN, The Washington Post, and more. In addition to all this, she also found the time to teach graduate courses on the impact of digital media on public affairs at the John Glenn School of Public Affairs.
